3. Vehicle Tracking Device
The Controller unit shall connect to the Vehicle Tracking device through RS232C serial port. The Vehicle Tracking Device has an inbuilt GPRS modem. The Vehicle Tracking Device reads the current location of the vehicle and other parameters like speed etc. from the GPS device at regular internal. It passes this information to the central VTS Server through GPRS connection. Additionally, it passes this information to the Controller Unit on serial port. The Controller unit uses the location information to identify the current and/or next stop on the route and make the requisite voice announcement.
The Controller unit shall use the GPRS modem of the tracking device to send data / messages to the central Server (back office). The data shall include captured video data from cameras, ticketing information received from the ETMs etc.
While the bus is going on a route, the tracking device shall be sending the location information to the controller at regular information. Based on the route selected, whenever the location information is close to the bus stop location, the controller shall alert the driver of the next bus stop. It shall also announce the next bus stop on internal speakers. At the bus stop, the driver can initiate announcement of destination and major via stops on external speakers for convenience of the passengers standing at the Bus stop. Similarly, the requisite messages shall be sent to the various display boards at appropriate times. This shall be controlled by the driver. Alternately, it can also be made automatic.

4. Camera System
The camera system is essentially independent of the Audio-Visual Passenger Information System. It comprises of a set of two CCTV cameras ? one mounted in the front and other mounted on the rear on the inside of the bus. The output from the two cameras is continuously recorded on the Controller unit. The recordings can be later sent to the Central server or copied to a Laptop or PC as and when required.

5. Electronic Ticketing Machine (ETM)
The Controller unit communicates with the Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETMs) through the WiFi/ Bluetooth interace. It receives the ticketing transaction information from the ETM and transmits it to the back office on real-time basis through GPRS link.
Similarly, the controller unit can be used to download bus route related information (including route number, bus stops on the route, location data of the bus stops, distance, ticket charges etc.) into the ETM.
